Our opinion on the Matha Beach
Matha Beach is the only beach of Saint Pierre d'Oléron. It is located south of the port of Cotinière. Surrounded by sharp rocks, it is the smallest beach of the island. It is bordered by some dunes and is supervised in the summer season. Because of its dimensions and rocks that surround it, interest is very limited. Swimming is only possible at high tide.
To get to this beach from the centre of Saint Pierre d'Oléron take the D274 to the port of La Cotinière. At the port, turn left. Parking spaces are available along the road (about 300 metres away).

From the access path to the beach, sharp rocks can be seen on both ends (swimming not allowed). You can only swim in the central area, the beach is very narrow (it is one of the smallest of the island of Oleron).
On the right, is the port of Cotinière (which is a few hundred metres away).
In the summer season, a lifeguard station surveys this beach.
